About Brigid Duncanson
Brigid is a Small Business Financial Counsellor based on the Sunshine Coast. She supports small businesses across Wide Bay Burnett, South East Queensland and Darling Downs in the following locations:
Brigid brings a rich and varied background in business operations, community engagement and regional development to the team. With a career deeply rooted in supporting individuals and small businesses through complex challenges, she combines strong analytical and financial oversight skills with a calm, empathetic approach.
Prior to joining the team, Brigid spent three years as an Engagement and Administration Coordinator for The Social Deck, a B Corp certified social research and engagement consultancy. In this role, she worked directly on outreach programs supporting community members across a range of issues including aged care, disability support and mental health.
Brigid understands the realities of running a small business firsthand, having spent many years as the Operations Manager for a local construction company. In this role she has managed day-to-day budgeting, cash flow and compliance obligations, whilst advocating and negotiating with financial institutions and regulators to ensure business sustainability. Her earlier career highlights include roles at the Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) in Emerald and management positions in the hospitality, retail and vocational education and training sectors.
Brigid has always enjoyed helping others build their skills and grow their businesses. Her passion lies in empowering small business owners to navigate complex financial landscapes, understand their options and build long-term business resilience.
She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Rural Management) and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University and is currently completing her Diploma in Financial Counselling.
Brigid works with a team of Financial Counsellors located throughout Southern Queensland and her activities are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) following the Tropical Cyclone Alfred and Associated Severe Weather events (1 March -16 March 2025).
