About Sonny Ahuja

Sonny is a Small Business Financial Counsellor based in Ipswich. She supports small businesses across Wide Bay Burnett, South East Queensland and Darling Downs in the following locations:

Sonny brings 18 years of banking experience, with strong expertise in personal and business banking, financial operations and customer support. Her background includes working closely with individuals and business clients to understand their financial position, assess options and support informed decision-making. Coming from a business family, she has a strong understanding of the challenges involved in running and sustaining a small business.

In addition, Sonny has practical experience supporting her husband’s business through bookkeeping and financial management, providing firsthand insight into cash flow pressures, operational challenges and the financial decisions small business owners face.

Currently pursuing her Diploma of Financial Counselling, Sonny is passionate about supporting small business owners to gain clarity over their financial situation, explore practical options and make confident decisions that support business stability and growth.

As a mother of two, Sonny also understands the importance of financial resilience and long-term planning in supporting both families and future business success.

Outside of work, she enjoys travelling and learning about different businesses and industries. These experiences have broadened her understanding of how businesses operate and strengthened her interest in supporting small business communities.

Sonny works with a team of Financial Counsellors located throughout Southern Queensland and her activities are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) following the Tropical Cyclone Alfred and Associated Severe Weather events (1 March -16 March 2025).
